A PICTURE OF Ralign T.W, MTA NEW ADMINISTRATOR Ralign T. Wells,
MTA
Administrator

It is a great honor to have been appointed Administrator of the MTA. I have worked at the MTA for over 20 years, starting as a part-time bus operator. These experiences have given me an understanding of the challenges the MTA faces each day and a unique perspective on what needs to be accomplished as we look toward the future for public transportation in Maryland. I have established several priorities as we work toward our goal of becoming the nation's premier transit agency.

First, to improve customer service I have launched a Service Quality Division which will improve our ability to monitor, respond and adjust our service when needed. As part of this effort, we will soon consolidate the control function for our core services and our police at one central location. With state-of-the-art technology, we will greatly enhance our ability to implement quality control measures in a timely manner.

Second, I am expanding a data-driven performance monitoring initiative based on Governor Martin O'Malley's State Stat program to all MTA departments. This initiative will track trends in to ensure accountability and continuously improve the efficiency of our transit products. We will post key performance indicators on the website so anyone can see how we are doing.

Third, we will enhance our support for locally operated transit systems by reorganizing our staff and providing a dedicated manager.

Fourth, we will redouble our efforts to market MTA's clean, safe, reliable and safe transportation services in an effort to attract new riders to the MTA.

Fifth, I will keep the Governor's initiative to expand the State's rapid transit network moving with funding and leadership.

It is my hope that the new initiatives and consolidated operations efforts will enable the MTA to position the State of Maryland as a model for how public transit services should be delivered to its citizens. I look forward to serving you.
