The Office of Communications and Marketing (OCM), which includes Media Relations, communicates important information to the public and employees and helps shape the image of Maryland’s statewide public transportation system. Internal communications include the quarterly printed employee newsletter Transit Lines. OCM also assists other MTA departments with brand identity, internal and external events, collateral materials and employee appreciation initiatives. External communications include press releases, daily Transit Team reports on radio and television and the MTA website (mta.maryland.gov). OCM also operates two FM radio stations WTTZ-93.5 FM in Baltimore and WMVK-107.3 FM in Perryville, MD that provide regular transit reports, traffic updates and information about delays at BWI Airport.

The department also produces MDOT MTA's monthly television show Commuter Connections, which airs in 14 different jurisdictions throughout Maryland. In addition, OCM produces a quarterly printed newsletter, Wheels, for paratransit customers; system maps; annual reports; and various brochures and publications, including the Visitors Ride Guide and MARC Riders Guide; transit-related sports brochures for the Preakness and Orioles and Ravens games; and electronic newsletters for all modes to include On Your MARC, Commuter Buzz and Transit Today. In an effort to share the most current transit information with the public using social media, OCM routinely posts content to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
