MTA HOSTS MEDIA ROUNDTABLE AND CELEBRATES 5TH YEAR OF WORDS ON WHEELS
BALTIMORE, MD — The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) hosted its Media Roundtable today in which Administrator Paul J. Wiedefeld and Deputy Administrators held informal dialogue with the media and provided updates on the status of MTA projects. The media also shared perspectives and asked questions relative to the operations of the administration.
“The roundtable event was a great opportunity for MTA to inform and update the media and the public about the administration’s plans,” said MTA Administrator Paul J. Wiedefeld. “My goal is to move the MTA forward in all aspects and transform it into the epitome of safe, reliable and efficient transit service. As we work on projects to realize this goal, maintaining open communication with stakeholders such as the media and the community remains an important aspect to us.”
Additionally, MTA today unveiled ten posters that will be displayed inside Local Buses and Light Rail cars as part of its Words on Wheels exhibit. English students at seven middle schools and design students at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) created the posters that combine original works of poetry with graphic interpretation. The participating middle schools include Midtown Academy, Roland Park, Mount Royal Middle, Hamilton Middle, New Song Academy, Morrell Park Middle, and Southeast Middle. This is the fifth year for the Words on Wheels program.
“I am delighted to see teachers using innovative methods of encouraging students to express themselves,” said Paul J. Wiedefeld, MTA Administrator. “The MTA is proud to have the work of these fine students displayed so that the thousands of people who use the mass transit each day can enjoy their poems and reflect on their unique view of the world. This is a fantastic program and we are very happy to be a part of it.”
