MARC CREATES ADVISORY COUNCIL  

Bi-Monthly Meetings Open To The Public  

(BALTIMORE, MD) -- The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) today announced the members of its newly formed 20-member, MARC Riders Advisory Council.  The first bi-monthly meeting is scheduled for May 18, 2006 at Union Station in Washington, D.C.  Maryland Department of Transportation Secretary Robert L. Flanagan and MARC officials will address the group.   

"Governor Ehrlich has made MARC train service a transportation priority by investing in new trains and parking facilities, said Robert L. Flanagan, Secretary, Maryland Department of Transportation.  “This MARC Riders Advisory Council will identify improvements that can make the MARC service even more convenient, comfortable, and attractive to our customers."  

The members selected to serve on the MARC Riders Advisory Council and their boarding Stations include:

Hameed Ahmed of Laurel, Laurel Station

Juan Calvo of Baltimore, Penn Station

Steve Chan of Catonsville, Halethorpe Station

Lynda Clarke of Towson, Penn Station

Valerie Clarke of Baltimore, West Baltimore Station

Joel Eissinger of Churchville, Aberdeen Station

Deborah Foster of Hagerstown, Frederick and Monocacy Stations

David Frederick of Hagerstown, Barnesville, Dickerson, and Monocacy Stations

Laurence Gross of Hagerstown, Monocacy and Point of Rocks Stations

Rafael Guroian of Baltimore, Various Stations

Harriett Hassler Keedysville, Brunswick Station

E. Donald Hughes of Elkridge, Dorsey Station

Ronald P. Jackson, Jr. of Pikesville, Halethorpe Station

Brenda Klaunberg of Halethorpe, St. Denis Station

Richard Lollis of Severn, Odenton Station

Carol Oberdorfer of Dickerson, Dickerson Station

One additional member will be appointed by Secretary Flanagan to chair the council.  The council membership reflects the ridership of the Penn, Brunswick and Camden lines. All meetings are open to the public and will provide a forum for discussing MARC operations and suggestions for service improvements.
