Falls Road Light Rail Stop Parking Expansion Project

Dear Citizen:

Final Design is nearly complete on the Falls Road Light Rail Stop Parking Expansion Project.  At our December 12, 2007 open house, there were several inquiries from the community to view the final design plans once they were completed.  The drawings feature improvements such as new lighting, new fence, landscaping, pedestrian access, and security gate.

You have the option to review the final design plans on the Maryland Transit Administration’s (MTA) website, which can be accessed at mta.maryland.gov (also need the file path) or by way of an informal site visit at the Falls Road Light Rail Stop to be held on August 29 at 1 PM.  MTA staff will be available to walk through the plans to answer your questions.  The Meeting will begin at the station platform.

The parking expansion will take place on property already owned by the MTA to address the growth of increased patronage of the light rail transit and to remove parking from undesignated areas.  The parking lot improvement, when completed, will provide 97 additional parking spaces to increase the number of parking spaces from 92 spaces to 189 spaces. The project will move to construction this summer, and is estimated to be completed by Spring 2009.

We look forward to seeing you at the site visit.  If you would like more information about the project, please feel free to contact Mr. George Hill, at 410-767-3768, or by e-mail at ghill@mtamaryland.com.

Sincerely,

Henry Kay

Deputy Administrator
