Online Ticket Purchases
Commuter Direct is a service offered to our customers who wish to purchase tickets online. Commuters who enroll in Commuter Direct can purchase one-time tickets or have tickets sent to them automatically on a regular basis. Tickets are ordered on-line and mailed to the customer.
Commuter Direct accepts Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. Other acceptable forms of payment are SmartBenefits Vouchers, the SmarTrip card, and the SmartBenefits Personal Account Service. Visit Commuter Direct to purchase your MARC tickets.
AMTRAK Self Service Ticket (SST) Kiosks
These machines accept all major debit and credit cards, and can be found at most MARC Stations and are available for use whenever MARC service is in operation. Cash or vouchers of any kind cannot be used. Available for purchase are one-way, weekly, monthly, and Senior/disability discounted tickets.
SSTs are accessible to the visually impaired. With the insertion of a headset, supplied by the commuter, all SSTs have audio to assist with the ticket purchasing process.
MARC/AMTRAK Ticket Offices
MARC Ticket agents at the Brunswick Station and Odenton Station accept cash, major credit cards, SmartBenefits Vouchers, or Commuter Choice Maryland Vouchers. More station information.
MARC Tickets can be purchased at Amtrak stations, Baltimore Penn Station, BWI Marshall Train Station,
New Carrollton Station, and Washington Union Station; as well as the four Commuter Stores in Virginia.
Ticket Purchases on the train (one-way tickets ONLY)
Commuters may use cash to purchase one-way tickets aboard MARC trains. Tickets purchased on trains are subject to a $3.00 penalty if the ticket office is open or there is a functioning ticket machine. Conductors will not accept any bill denominations above $20 for cash fare sales. Passengers presenting bills larger than $20 will be asked to leave the train at the next station that has a functioning ticket vending machine or ticket agent and purchase ticket.
MARC Ticketing Policies

Alteration or mutilation of any ticket, or obtaining a ticket deceptively for the purpose of fraudulent transportation
will result in forfeiture of ticket.
Lost or Damaged Tickets
