The Maryland Transit Administration Youth Transit Council provides opportunities for young people to learn about how MTA works and to gain real-life skills through exposure to the full range of MTA career options. The Youth Transit Council is a volunteer advisory group that offers a forum for young people, in the Baltimore area, to raise awareness and understanding of the topics most importation to their transit experience. While the Youth Transit Council does not establish regulations or policy, it does connect young people with the MTA staff responsible for providing public transit service.

Vision & Goals

The Youth Transit Council envisions a dynamic forum where the voices of young people interact directly with the Maryland Transit Administration. We are committed to fostering an environment that embraces and values and the voices of young people. By fostering understanding and collaboration between MTA and its young customers, we ensure that their views are not only heard but also respected in the process. Through our efforts, we aim to bridge the gap between MTA and young individuals to create a more connected transportation system that addresses their unique aspirations.

Get Involved & Make A Difference

The Maryland Transit Administration is looking for 20 Youth Transit Council members to create a representative group across age, geography, demographics, and schools. Members will serve 13-month terms starting in the fall of the academic year with an option to re-new for a second term.
