Penn Line Delays on Friday, January 25

The MARC Train service apologizes for the inconvenience caused by this morning’s catenary line malfunction just south of BWI (catenary lines are the overhead electrical wires that provide electricity to our electrically-powered locomotives).
A catenary line went down just after southbound Penn Line train #415 passed BWI about 7:24 am. This affected all three tracks near BWI and shut down most Penn Line and Amtrak traffic for almost 5 hours.
We are working with our partners at Amtrak to determine what caused the problem. We recognize that this was a significant inconvenience for many of you today and we sincerely regret the disruption in your travel plans. However, when such incidents occur your safety has to be our top priority.
