AMTRAK
MARC tickets are not valid on Amtrak trains for travel entirely between Baltimore and Washington on weekdays.
MARC one-way tickets are NEVER valid on Amtrak trains, except in the case of designated service disruptions.
*For Amtrak train schedule times, visit the Amtrak website.
Weekdays
MARC Monthly/Weekly/TLC ticket holders may ride the following select Amtrak Reserved Regional trains for no additional charge:
MARC monthly and weekly tickets may be honored for travel between any city pairs within the endpoints specified on the ticket - except for trains that allow travel only between specific endpoints. For example, a MARC ticket good for travel in between Washington and Perryville may also be honored for travel between New Carrollton and BWI Marshall Airport. However, a MARC ticket good for travel between Washington and Aberdeen MAY NOT be used for travel to Perryville.
Weekends
MARC tickets are NOT valid on any Acela Express train or Reserved Regional trains 87, 121, 135, 152, 156, 192, & 194; or any long distance trains operating outside of the MARC Penn Line service area (e.g. trains continuing south of Washington to the Carolinas, Florida, or Georgia.)

Holidays
MARC Tickets are not valid on any Amtrak trains on weekdays or holidays when MARC Train does not operate.
Amtrak Security Measures
In the interest of safety and security, Amtrak passengers, including MARC commuters and their property may be subject to screening prior to boarding Amtrak trains at Washington Union Station, New Carrollton Station, BWI Marshall Rail Station, and Penn Station in Baltimore. Passengers failing to consent to security inspection procedures will be denied access to trains and refused carriage.
Virginia Railway Express (VRE)
Our cross honor agreement with VRE allows VRE riders with valid tickets the ability to transfer for free to reverse-flow MARC trains. Reverse flow trains are defined as trains that are going in the opposite direction of the rush-hour commuters.
For example, VRE riders are permitted to board on any MARC train leaving Washington until noon and return to Washington on any MARC train returning the same day, with the same ticket.
Click HERE to view reverse-flow trains on MARC Camden and Penn Lines.
Please note: MARC does not accept free ride certificates or other promotional tickets. Cross-honor VRE tickets are not accepted on Amtrak trains.
