What is the "R" schedule? This is a reduced level of service operated on selected holidays and during inclement weather conditions. Only trains with an "R" under the train number in the Camden and Penn Line timetables and Brunswick Line trains listed in the special grid on the right side of the timetable will operate.  In addition, some trains will make additional stops when operating on the "R" schedule as noted in the timetable grid.

The following is the MARC Train holiday operational schedule for 2026:

  • Presidents Day (February 16): R Schedule on all three lines
    • Penn Line Trains 455 (8:45pm departure from Penn Station) and 454 (10:05pm departure from Washington) will operate.
    • Brunswick Line passengers should note that the R schedule consists of morning Trains 872, 892, 878 and 880 and afternoon Trains 875, 877, 893 and 881.
      • Frederick Transit will not operate on January 19, so there will be no connecting bus service from Point of Rocks to Monocacy and Frederick.
  • Easter Sunday (April 5): Regularly-scheduled Sunday Penn Line service
  • Memorial Day (May 25): No MARC Train service
  • Juneteenth (Thursday, June 19): Full service on all three lines
  • Independence Day, observed (Friday, July 3): To Be Determined, information will be posted by mid-June
  • Labor Day (September 7): No MARC Train service
  • Columbus Day and Veterans Day: To Be Determined, information will be posted by October 1
  • Thanksgiving Day (November 26): No MARC Train service
  • Day after Thanksgiving (November 27): To Be Determined, information will be posted by November 1
  • Christmas/New Years: To Be Determined, information will be posted by December 1
