What is the "R" schedule? This is a reduced level of service operated on selected holidays and during inclement weather conditions. Only trains with an "R" under the train number in the timetables will operate.  In addition, some Penn and Camden Line trains will make additional stops when operating on the "R" schedule as noted in the timetable grid.  All Brunswick Line trains will make all stops when operating on the R schedule.

The following is the MARC Train holiday operational schedule for 2026:

  • Veterans Day (Wednesday, November 11): Full service on all three lines
    • For Brunswick Line passengers, Frederick Transit Meet the MARC shuttle and EPTA connecting bus service to West Virginia stations will operate.
  • Thanksgiving Day (Thursday, November 26): No MARC Train service
  • Day after Thanksgiving (Friday, November 27): Saturday schedule on the Penn Line only - no Camden or Brunswick Line service
  • Christmas/New Years: 
    • December 21-23 : Full service on all three lines
    • December 24: "R" schedule on all three lines.
      • For Brunswick Line passengers, Frederick Transit Meet the MARC shuttle service will not operate
    • December 25: No MARC Train service
    • December 26-27: Normal weekend Penn Line service
    • December 28-30 : Full service on all three lines
    • December 31: "R" schedule on all three lines
      • For Brunswick Line passengers, Frederick Transit Meet the MARC shuttle service will operate, meeting Train 875 at Point of Rocks.
    • January 1: No MARC Train service
    • January 2-3: Normal weekend Penn Line service
