BALTIMORE MD (OCTOBER 28, 2011) – The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) will hold a series of Open Houses on the proposed Purple Line in November. The four open houses are scheduled for November 1st, 2nd, 7th and 10th and will be held in various locations throughout the Purple Line corridor (see schedule below).
The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) recently approved the Purple Line to enter into the Preliminary Engineering phase of the project. By granting permission to begin preliminary engineering, the Purple Line becomes one of a small number of projects nationwide that are eligible for federal funding. During this next stage, the MTA will create more detailed plans, schedules, and complete environmental studies. As a result of this approval the MTA is holding these community meetings to discuss the project’s progress with the public.
At the Open Houses community members can learn about the benefits of the Purple Line, get updated on the status of the project, give input on the project, and find out what will happen next. All who are interested are encouraged to come out and learn how the project could benefit their community. The meetings will be held at the following dates and times:
