MTA POLICE INVESTIGATE FATAL METRO SUBWAY ACCIDENT
BALTIMORE, MD (SEPTEMBER 13, 2012) — At approximately 3:17 p.m. today a Metro Subway train struck an unidentified adult male on the tracks near the West Cold Spring Metro Subway Station. Medics pronounced the unidentified male dead at the scene.
The adult male apparently entered the tracks at the West Cold Spring Metro Station and began walking westbound on the eastbound tracks when he was struck by a train travelling in the eastbound direction.
Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) personnel successfully evacuated passengers from that train without incident; there were no injuries reported by anyone on the train.
Police investigation of the accident scene is ongoing and service is expected to be impacted for much of the afternoon rush and into the evening. Additional MTA personnel will be on hand to help manage the expected heavy flow of traffic.
Metro Subway is operating from Owings Mills to Reisterstown Plaza AND from Johns Hopkins to Mondawmin. Shuttle bus service is in place between the Mondawmin and Reisterstown Road Plaza stations. Customers can catch a shuttle bus at the Mondawmin Loop and the Reisterstown Plaza Loop.
