Santa Arrives at Mondawmin Metro
Santa and Mrs. Claus are back to “Santa’s Place” at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station. Santa will make the first of three visits on Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. He also visits the station on December 8 and 15.
“If you have attended this event in recent years, you know it has become a tradition for thousands of kids and their families,” said MTA Administrator, Ralign T. Wells. “The Mondawmin Metro Subway Station is the gateway to one of Baltimore’s busiest shopping centers and a major hub for our transit system so we’re glad Santa agreed to stop by and hear the Christmas wishes of children again this year.”
Children are invited to pose for free pictures with Santa. They can also hear their favorite holiday stories read by Mrs. Claus. After getting their pictures taken kids can enjoy the Subway City Train Garden, right next door to “Santa’s Place”.
The interactive train garden features a subway train that travels through a cityscape, neighborhoods, a zoo, a park and a construction site. Visitors are encouraged to take part in the fun by pushing interactive buttons and watching as the objects inside the train garden come to life.
This marks the sixth year for the holiday exhibit which was designed and built by MTA Metro Subway employees. The display is located on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station and is available for public viewing through Monday, January 7, 2013 during the Metro Subway system’s normal operating hours.
The Subway City Train Garden and “Santa’s Place” are both free of charge. Parents are encouraged to arrive early for the free pictures with Santa because of his busy schedule.
