Weather Announcement

The Maryland Department of Budget and Management (DBM) frequently issues announcements regarding the closure of state office buildings and liberal leave policy.

These DBM announcements reference “Emergency Essential” personnel.  MDOT MTA designates employees as either “Essential” or “Non-Essential” and the designation of “Essential” is equivalent to DBM’s “Emergency Essential.”

Any announcement issued by DBM that references the work status of Emergency Essential employees applies to MDOT MTA’s Essential employees.  For example, if Emergency Essential employees are told to report as scheduled, then MDOT MTA Essential Employees are expected to report for duty for their normally scheduled shift.

The state has declared liberal leave for Baltimore City and all Maryland counties from 12:00 p.m. until the end of the day shift at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Non-emergency essential employees who report to the office may use liberal leave beginning at noon or thereafter upon notification to the employee’s supervisor.

Employees who are telework eligible and scheduled to telework should telework as scheduled unless leave is granted. Emergency essential employees should report as scheduled.

Emergency essential employees should report as scheduled.
