BALTIMORE, MD (MARCH 14, 2017) – As the region recovers from the snow and ice brought by Winter Storm Stella, the Maryland Department of Transportation’s Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is preparing for a return to regular service on its travel modes tomorrow. All three lines on MTA’s MARC Train, Commuter Bus and Metro Subway are expected to be operating at full capacity Wednesday. MTA Local Bus will operate with some street diversions put in place to avoid steep hills and sharp turns on roadways.
MTA will start all Mobility/Paratransit service Wednesday at 6 a.m. but for the safety of drivers and our customers, Mobility service will be provided only where snow and ice have been removed from sidewalks and stairways in front of customer’s homes.
MTA Light Rail will start service at 7 a.m. and will run 15 minute headways as opposed to the normal 10 or 5 minute intervals at most stops during peak periods.
“We are proud we are getting back up to speed so swiftly after a challenging storm,” said MTA Administrator and CEO Paul Comfort. “The safety of our employees and riders is our top priority, and the fact that we had no accidents or crimes during this storm is a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our MTA employees.”

Local Bus
· Regular service scheduled with possible diversions on Wednesday, March 15. Check mta.maryland.gov for specific diversion information.
Metro Subway
· Regular service scheduled.
Light Rail
· Ice trains will run throughout this evening and Wednesday, March 15, to keep ice from forming on overhead catenary wires. Service will start at 7 a.m. and will operate on 15 minute headways.
Mobility/Paratransit
· Regular Mobility/Paratransit service starting at 6 a.m. Wednesday, March 15.
MARC Train
· Regular service on all three lines Wednesday, March 15.
Commuter Bus
· Regular service Wednesday, March 15.
