BALTIMORE, MD (October 13, 2023) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration encourages both runners and spectators to arrive relaxed and ready for a day of sport and fun at the 22nd annual Baltimore Running Festival to be held in downtown Baltimore. To accommodate running festival attendees, Light Rail service will operate two additional early morning trains from Hunt Valley – departing at 5:00 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. Early morning trains from Glen Burnie will depart at 5:28 a.m. and 5:58 a.m. Metro Subway also is a great travel option with free parking at stations. Running festival attendees can view transit schedules and plan their trip at mta.maryland.gov.
During the event, Baltimore City Department of Transportation will implement road closures causing diversions for several CityLink and LocalLink bus routes. These road closures are expected in the vicinity of Camden Yards, Druid Lake, St. Paul Street, Canton, Fells Point, Federal Hill, Patterson Park, Lake Montebello and Maryland Ave. Bus riders should plan ahead and allow for extra travel time.
A full list of affected routes and anticipated detours can be found online at mta.maryland.gov/running-festival 2023. The agency recommends that riders use the Transit app to help navigate the system. The free app offers real-time schedules, predicted arrival times, service alerts and step-by step navigation for all fixed-route services including Local Bus, Light Rail and Metro Subway.

The Maryland Transit Administration reminds riders that transit fare vending machines are cash only. To purchase transit fares with a credit or debit card, the agency encourages riders to download the free CharmPass mobile fare app.
