FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Plan Identifies Recommendations for Improving Baltimore Region Bus Service Over the Next Ten Years

BALTIMORE, MD (September 18, 2024) – The Maryland Transit Administration is seeking public input on draft recommendations for BMORE BUS, the agency’s vision for improved bus service in the Baltimore region. The agency compiled and analyzed feedback received during the initial BMORE BUS engagement period which occurred in spring 2024. More than 700 comments helped shape the current draft recommendations for what additional bus service in the Baltimore region could look like. An interactive, online summary of the proposed recommendations and scenarios is available at mta.maryland.gov/bmorebus

"We must continuously evaluate our bus system to ensure it is meeting the needs of our region," said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. "Public feedback is a critical to the development of our BMORE BUS plan and an excellent opportunity for us to hear directly from our riders."

The comment period will run from September 18 to October 18. The Maryland Tran.sit Administration will hold three open houses where the public can learn about the BMORE BUS study, explore the recommended improvements, share feedback and ask questions. Information about the open house is listed below and on the project website:

Paul St., Baltimore, MD 21202. Questions and comments on the plan may also be left with the study team via email at bmorebus@mta.maryland.gov or via voice mailbox at 410-767-9099.

BMORE BUS will present a vision for bus service in the Baltimore region that the Maryland Transit Administration could work toward implementing over the next ten years, with additional resources. BMORE BUS focuses on improvements to the agency’s core bus service area - which includes service on CityLink, LocalLink, Express BusLink, and QuickLink routes – and strengthening connections to the broader Central Maryland region.

The Maryland Transit Administration strongly encourages the public to review the recommendations and share their perspective on how the agency should prioritize and allocate resources to improve the future of bus service for the Baltimore region. The BMORE BUS plan is expected to be finalized later this year.
