BALTIMORE, MD (December 2, 2024) – The Maryland Transit Administration will offer free rides aboard the Holiday Bus and showcase the Mondawmin Train Garden to bring an added joyous note to the holiday season for Baltimore residents and visitors for the 46th year. The Holiday Bus will operate on weekdays from Monday, December 2, through Friday, December 20. The Train Garden will delight observers at the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station from Monday, December 2 to Friday, January 3 from 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. daily.

“Our Holiday Bus and Train Garden are returning again as part of the many cherished holiday traditions in the Baltimore region,” said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. “Free rides on the Holiday Bus and the Mondawmin Train Garden are a small way of saying thank you to our riders during the holiday season.”

The free Holiday Bus will operate on different CityLink and LocalLink bus routes weekdays until the Friday before Christmas. Passengers of all ages are invited to hop on board, receive a free candy cane and enjoy a free holiday music-filled ride to their destination.  Along with free transit for customers, the Holiday Bus will help launch Baltimore into the holiday mood with an appearance of the season at the 51st Mayor’s Christmas Parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 8.

The schedule and location of the Holiday Bus changes daily, but customers can track the Holiday Bus by looking for the sleigh icon on the Transit app, which provides real-time information for all fixed-route services. For clues on where the Holiday Bus will be located, customers can follow the Maryland Transit Administration on social media at facebook.com/mtamaryland, instagram.com/mtamaryland and on Twitter/X.

Situated on the Mezzanine Level of the Mondawmin Metro Subway Station and built by Maryland Transit Administration employees, the Train Garden has delighted Baltimore residents and guests for decades. The miniature, interactive attraction features a subway train that travels through a cityscape, neighborhoods, racetrack, fast-food restaurant and a fire station. Passengers can take part in the fun by pushing buttons that make objects inside the train garden come to life.
