FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Gwynns Falls Elementary School Families to Receive Holiday Support with Gifts and Meals

BALTIMORE, MD (December 23, 2024) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration Police continued their 22 year tradition of distributing holiday cheer in the form of toys, gifts and meals to local families in need. On Friday, December 20, officers received a helping hand from Santa and Mrs. Claus in distributing the presents to families from Gwynns Falls Elementary School as part of the Adopt-a-Family holiday program.

“Our officers volunteer their time and their money in this effort to make the holiday season brighter for the families we serve,” said Police Chief Jerome Howard. “I’m proud to lead our skillful, generous staff of police professionals and stand by all they do to improve the communities they serve and protect.”

First started in 2003, officers of the Maryland Transit Administration Police have donated their time and resources during the holiday season to provide presents to more than 250 families from local schools through the Adopt-A-Family program.

The holiday Adopt-A-Family program is one of many volunteer outreach initiatives by Maryland Transit Administration Police to support local communities. Other annual events include the Polar Bear Plunge and Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics of Maryland, National Night Out and a Back-to-School Supply Drive.
