MARYLAND TRANSIT ADMINISTRATION LAUNCHES SECOND ANNUAL EARTH DAY YOUTH ART COMPETITION

Winning Designs from Youth Ages 5 to 17 to Appear on Specially Wrapped Bus

 

BALTIMORE, MD (February 18, 2025) – The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration is now accepting submissions for its second annual Earth Day Art Competition. Youth from across Maryland are invited to submit artwork showcasing their creativity and highlighting the connection between public transportation and sustainability. The finalists’ artwork will be featured on a specially wrapped bus, transforming it into a mobile celebration of sustainability and artistic expression. The deadline to submit artwork is March 17.

 

"Engaging the next generation in public transit and sustainability is crucial to building a more sustainable future," said Maryland Transit Administrator Holly Arnold. "We are thrilled to provide a platform for these talented young people to showcase the positive impact of transit on our environment."

 

In addition to the wrapped bus, the selected finalists’ pieces will be displayed in the Maryland State Department of Education Superintendent’s Student Gallery on Baltimore Street.

  • Eligibility: Open to all youth ages five (5) through seventeen (17)

Last year, the Maryland Transit Administration received nearly 50 submissions from across the state and the six finalists represented Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Montgomery County and Prince George’s County.
