Maryland Transit Administration, in partnership with the Baltimore City Department of Transportation, is investing $20 million in Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant funds for the Mondawmin Transit Hub Project, a $33.5 million multi-modal transportation enhancement project that will perform safety, accessibility, state of good repair, and sustainability improvements at this vital transit hub in West Baltimore.

Project Description

Click here to view the interactive Mondawmin Transit Hub Study StoryMapThe Mondawmin Transit Hub Project is a comprehensive effort that includes upgrades to the station assets, investments in multi-modal transportation, and enhancements to improve the rider experience.

The proposed improvements to the station and surrounding area will create better connections between different modes of transportation, including transfers between the Metro and the station's 11 connecting bus routes. Targeted ADA improvements will ensure the station is accessible for people with disabilities. Our goal is to create a modern, safe, and well-connected transit hub in West Baltimore that serves the needs of our customers and the community.

Project Timeline

MTA is currently developing the Mondawmin Transit Hub Plan, which includes planning, preliminary engineering, and conceptual design for all above-ground investments. During this first task, which is anticipated to be completed before 2026, MTA will conduct three rounds of public engagement to inform the new design of project elements such as the bus loop plaza, pedestrian spine, and intersection redesigns. As a planning-level effort, this task will analyze the entire Mondawmin project area to provide a clear and comprehensive vision, while building on existing plans and designs that have already been developed. The Mondawmin Transit Hub Plan will result in conceptual designs which will form the basis of future engineering and construction of the Transit Hub.
