Fall 2018 Service Adjustments

The following provides a summary of the 2018 Fall service change, which includes the final decisions for each proposed major change that went out for public comment as well as minor modifications not included in the public hearing proposal. Minor modifications include adding or shifting of trips, runtime changes, and other scheduling efficiencies based on updated ridership data and comments from riders, MDOT MTA operators, and other staff. There is also a section on modifications to supplemental service school trippers for the upcoming 2018-2019 school year.

Service changes take effect September 2, 2018.

Service Enhancements and Route Modifications

CityLink Brown:

Two early morning trips from Overlea at 4:35am and 5:41am added to meet ridership demand

CityLink Gold:

Additional early morning trips
Weekdays leaving:
- Walbrook Junction at 5:07 AM & 5:12 AM
- Berea at 5:39am, 6:13am, 6:35 AM, 11:09 AM & 12:09 PM
- Canton Crossing at 5:34 AM
Weekends leaving:
- Walbrook Junction at 6:35 AM
- Berea 6:54 AM & 7:54 AM
Additional mid-day trips to Berea and late-night service to Canton Crossing.
Frequency of service between 6:00 AM- 6:00 PM adjusted to operate every 12 minutes.

CityLink Navy:

Realigned service at Calhoun and Baltimore streets
- Eastbound service will operate on the regular route south on Calhoun St., then turn left onto W. Baltimore St., right onto S. Cary St., and continue the regular route along W. Pratt St.
- Westbound service remains the same.
Added Service
- Westbound service from Dundalk Ave. and Center Place
  - Added four early morning trips leaving at 4:33 AM, 5:04 AM, 5:33 AM & 5:53 AM.
  - Service between 4:33 AM – 6:02 AM adjusted to operate every 15 minutes.
  - Frequency of service adjusted to operate every 20 minutes between 6:30 PM - 9:27 PM.
- Eastbound service from Mondawmin MetrSubwayLink Station
  - Frequency of service adjusted to operate every 10 minutes between 3:03 PM - 6:30 PM.
  - Frequency of service adjusted to operate every 20 minutes between 6:30 PM- 10:00 PM.

CityLink Yellow:

Realigned service in Reservoir Hill between Cloverdale Rd. and Whitelock St.
- Service to Mondawmin MetrSubwayLink will operate on Eutaw Place and Cloverdale Rd.
- Service to UMBC/PatapscLight RailLink will operate on Cloverdale Rd. and Madison Ave.
One additional early morning trip, at 5:59 AM, from PatapscLight RailLink Station to Downtown Baltimore.

LocalLink 26:

Realigned service to operate from Cherry Hill Rd. onto Hanover St., rather than on Seamon and Reedbird Avenues.

LocalLink 29:

Extended and realigned route to serve the Caton Center Business Park.
All trips between 7:00 AM- 7:00 PM, will operate the through the Violetville Loop via Benson Ave, Knecht Ave, and VerRd.
Late evening frequency of service adjusted to operate every 45 minutes until end of service.

LocalLink 30:

Rerouted to serve the Hollander Business Park. The new eastern destination and layover at "Hollander Ridge," is located on 62nd St. near Pulaski Hwy.

LocalLink 31:

Early morning service will originate from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), rather than Security Square Mall, as follows
- Weekdays before 5:30 AM
- Saturday before 7:00 AM

LocalLink 36:

No modification to route alignment. Original proposal included extension through Hyde Park Station in both directions to serve Food Lion and other businesses, but request was rescinded by developer

LocalLink 53:

Service extended to Cromwell Bridge Park & Ride via Loch Raven Boulevard
- Peak service will operate every 15 minutes.
- Mid-day service will operate every 20 minutes.
Service to Towson and tSheppard Pratt Hospital will increase
- Peak service operating every 30 minutes.
- Mid-day service operating every 40 minutes.
Will no longer stop at Loch Raven Blvd. and Colbury Rd.

LocalLink 63:

Two additional early morning trips between Downtown Baltimore and Tradepoint Atlantic will provide daily service to the new Amazon facility.
Weekday departures
- Westbound from Tradepoint Atlantic at 3:50 AM & 4:20 AM.
- Eastbound from Downtown Baltimore at 4:48 AM & 5:15 AM.
Weekend departures
- Westbound from Tradepoint Atlantic at 5:45 AM & 6:15 AM.
- Eastbound from Downtown Baltimore at 4:50 AM & 5:20 AM.

LocalLink 65:

Added mid-day and late evening trips to accommodate Amazon workers.
Weekday departures
- Westbound from CCBC Dundalk at 2:45 AM, 10:10 AM, 10:40 AM, 3:30 PM, 3:40 PM, 7:20 PM, & 9:10 PM.
- Eastbound from Downtown Baltimore at 5:40 AM, 10:20 AM, 5:25 PM, 8:00 PM, 8:10 PM & 8:20 PM.
Weekend departures
- Westbound from CCBC Dundalk at 2:45 AM, 5:15 AM, 7:45 AM, 10:05 AM, 10:26 AM, 3:45 PM, 5:15 PM, 5:40 PM, 6:20 PM & 9:15 PM.
- Eastbound from Downtown Baltimore at 5:17 AM, 6:10 AM, 10:00 AM, 3:49 PM, 4:50 PM, 5:20 PM, 7:52 PM, 8:10 PM & 9:35 PM.

LocalLink 71:

Rerouted service to operate on Cherry Hill Rd.
Service will no longer operate on Reedbird and Seamon Avenues.

LocalLink 75:

Slightly realigned route, during late-night hours only, to serve riders at Horseshoe Casinand the Greyhound terminal. Service will operate via Haines, Warner, and Bayard streets.
All southbound trips from Patapsco Station to Arundel Mills and to Parkway Center will service the BWI MARC Station.
Overnight service only, will continue to bypass the BWI MARC Station.
Mid-day frequency of service changed to operate every 70 minutes.

LocalLink 92:

Service will remain the same on Smith Avenue.
Realigned route to loop through neighborhoods via Sanzo Rd./Clarks Ln., Fallstaff Rd., and Willow Glen Rd.

Express BusLink 103:

Discontinued the last two evening trips from Cromwell Bridge Park & Ride.
Service will be provided by the new extension of LL53.

Temporary Service Modifications

Due to postponement of reconstruction of the bridge over Herring Run, the proposed diversion for the LocalLink 54 and Express BusLink 154 have been cancelled until further notice. Buses will continue to operate on Harford Rd over the Herring Run Bridge and accommodate passengers at established bus stops.

- Southbound service will operate the regular route on Harford Rd., turn right onto Argonne Dr., left onto Hillen Rd., left onto 32nd St., and then right back onto Harford Rd. to continue the regular route.

LocalLink 62:

Due to construction at CCBC Essex the normal layover is temporarily closed.
A temporary layover has been established on South Ln. near Alpha Bay.

Bus Stop Adjustments

In addition to the service-related modification, there will be various bus stop modifications for the Fall service change, including 8 new stops, 4 reactivated stops, 1 relocated stop, 8 stop removals, and 146 sign modifications. The sign modifications include all of the eastbound stops on LocalLink 30 and all of the northbound stops on LocalLink 53 due to the route modification and subsequent destination changes. The remaining 26 sign modifications are a mix of removing routes from signs and adding routes to signs. Please note, as of the date of this document, LocalLink 92 bus stops have not yet been finalized, but will be included in changes for the Fall pick. Please refer to the table below for details on the bus stop modifications.
