US 29 Bus Rapid Transit Corridor Planning Study

The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT), in partnership with the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT), has conducted a corridor planning study to identify transportation needs and evaluate potential build alternatives to accommodate high frequency, reliable Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service on US 29 between Burtonsville Park and Ride and the Silver Spring Transit Center(approximately 14 miles). The study evaluated preliminary build alternatives for BRT that could operate within the existing right-of-way and begin service as quickly as possible.

The Draft Corridor Study Report and appendices are available below for review and comment from January 19 through February 27, 2017.

Written comments may be submitted during the public review period by email to us29brt@mta.maryland.gov or mail to:
Tamika Gauvin, Consultant Project Manager
Maryland Transit Administration

The project team will develop a Final Corridor Study Report that will address comments received to the extent possible. The Final Corridor Study Report will remain available on this project webpage.
